Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. scored an impressive win over South Aftrican, Jeffrey Mathebula, and unified the IBF and WBO Super Bantamweight Championship Belts at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. The fight was scored a unanimous blowout with Donaire knocking down Mathebula with a left hook in the fourth round.
“The Filipino Flash controlled the entire fight and showed the world he could stand toe-to-toe even with someone five inches taller than him,” said Rich Cabael, CEO of VuQo Premium Vodka. “And we’re proud to have him and Rachel as our endorsers.”
VuQo Premium Vodka sponsored the After Fight Party at Sevilla Nightclub in Long Beach, CA. and was hosted by Waterhole Kings and Just Blame Us. The After Party was well attended with media from ABS-CBN, BakitWhy.com, Manila Mail, FilAm TV, and AZE Media. Chris Gatdula from the world famous dance group Jabbawockeez was also in attendance.
VuQo Premium Vodka was honored to be one of three products introduced by Duty Free Philippines at the Conrad Hotel in Singapore during the Tax Free World Association Conference last May. The other products introduced were Guimaras Chocolates and DFP’s 25 Years Aquino to Aquino Coffee Table Book.
VuQo CEO, Rich Cabael, attended the reception and said a few words to introduce VuQo to DFP’s guests. The guests were treated to VuQo’s signature cocktails from VuQo Cali to VuQo Tonic and VuQo Fruit Punch served by the CEO himself.

VuQo Inc. is excited to announce that starting in May, VuQo Premium Vodka will be exclusively available in the Philippines through world-class retailer Duty Free Philippines. VuQo, the world’s first and only vodka distilled from coconut and proudly made in the Philippines, is creating a buzz in the US, where it has been spotted at the Emmy and Oscar Award gifting suites, as well as events with the Black Eyed Peas and rising Fil-Am boxer Nonito Donaire Jr.
“We congratulate Duty Free Philippines on their 25th anniversary and are honored that they chose to partner with VuQo as part of their celebration,” says VuQo CEO Rich Cabael. “Our goal has always been to create a world-class Filipino brand, and this is a wonderful opportunity to introduce VuQo to international travelers and overseas Filipino workers who shop at Duty Free.”
VuQo will be available in Duty Free’s 14 outlets located throughout the Philippines: Fiestamall Parañaque, NAIA Terminals 1, 2 & 3, Manila Ocean Park, Newport City Mall Resorts World Manila, Laoag International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, The Northwing SM City Cebu, and Davao International Airport.
On April 19, 2012, I, along with our CFO/Controller Fely Garcia and our VP of Operations Jojo Marallag, had the pleasure of paying a courtesy call to Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon Jimenez. Joining us at the meeting were Enchong Formoso, COO of Duty Free Philippines and Lorenze Sapitan, Sec. Jimenez’s chief of staff.
Our meeting gave us the opportunity to thank Sec. Jimenez and his team for using VuQo to promote Philippine tourism. In fact, I signed a bottle specifically thanking him for his support with Europe; just last March, DOT recently took VuQo on its roadshow to Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany.
Throughout the meeting, I shared the story of VuQo with Sec. Jimenez describing our challenges and successes to date. He was impressed with VuQo, saying it’s one of the most exciting products he’s seen out of the Philippines in a while.
Towards the end of the meeting, he asked that I endorse a second bottle, and to my surprise, it was for President Aquino, which Sec. Jimenez would present to him the very next day. On the bottle, I wrote: “To President Aquino, here’s another product proudly made in the Philippines, making its way worldwide.”
To end, Sec. Jimenez reiterated his desire to use VuQo, along with other great locally-made products, to promote Philippine tourism. Arrangements are being made for VuQo to be part of Memphis in May International Festival held in Memphis, TN which has chosen to feature and salute the Philippines for this year’s event. In June, DOT will also be holding events in Seoul, Korea and plans to use VuQo as well.
We are honored to be part of DOT’s efforts to promote the Philippines worldwide!
